California Boondoggling
The once-Golden State continues to waste billions on a bullet train between LA and San Francisco that has alreadycost billions and so far has a muzzle velocity of zero. The DOGE crew has it in focus.
Here's a little chunk of waste that DOGE and Elon Musk and Trump should make the poster child of their campaign against waste, fraud and abuse -- California's bullet train.
California knows how to blow more billions on boondoggles than any other state.
The Guardian newspaper -- whose 19th century-minded editors would build a railroad from London to New York City if they could -- said the "Dream of going from LA to San Francisco in three hours is past deadline, over budget, and after 16 years, incomplete."
Incomplete, as in not one foot of track is operational.
This is not a newsflash for a project that only California would dream up and continue to fund (with lots of federal taxpayer money from all the other states that would never be so stupid).
Even The Guardian can't hide from the truth:
"Originally the whole 494-mile route – stretching south beyond Los Angeles to Anaheim, home to Disneyland – was supposed to be finished by 2020, at a cost of around $30bn. Now, the state’s high-speed rail authority is refocusing its ambitions on a truncated 171-mile middle section in California’s Central valley, at a cost of more than $35bn and a tentative completion date of 2033. The budget for the entire line has ballooned to more than $100bn, with no end date in sight."
This link is to the BS propaganda still being put out by the state of California, which is still trying to sell its boondoggle as legit.
Here’s a clip from SaveCalifornia.com announcing the hopeful news that Trump & Co. are cutting off funds for all the bullet boondoggles in the land that would not exist without the ‘free’ money they get from federal taxpayers in other states.
