April Fooling in the PG -- A replay
A mock front page of the Daily Titanic from 1998 shows that even newspapers can have fun.
April Fooling.
Back in 1998, when I was working in what I didn't realize was going to be the last Golden Age of Newspapers, I somehow persuaded my bosses at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to let me produce a full-page mock-up/parody of our front page in honor of April Fools Day.
I had lots of help from our talented crew of writers who long ago have moved on to PR land, retirement or, in my case, driving part-time for Uber.
Astoundingly, considering the tiny physical size of the PG today, the very fake news appeared on Page 54 of a 162-page Wednesday paper.
I'm still waiting for my Pulitzer.
Hodding Carter has been put in charge of your Pulitzer entry.
