A true tale for lovers of polar bears and freedom
Call it cheap Orwell, a kids book for adults, dangerous propaganda, but 'Grandpa Bear Goes to Washington' satirizes the humans who think the world's largest carnivore is in danger from climate change.
Just in time for Polar Bear Week!
My polar bear ebook/paperback book ‘Grandpa Bear goes to Washington,’ is still uncanceled and available on Amazon.
A mostly true docu-fable, it includes dozens of exciting illustrations by the great Terrelle Lewis of Pittsburgh.
It’s not for everyone — you’ll know right away if it is or isn’t.
Here are blurbs from some of the famous people who’ve already read it.
· Almost unbelievable! – Donald Trump
· Gripping, eh? – Doug McKenzie
· Just snagged the movie rights! – Elon Musk
· How dare you! – Greta Thornberg
The bearly untrue tale:
Grandpa is a heroic, freedom-loving polar bear from East Greenland who understands that his proud species is in far greater danger from the interventions of the federal government, overzealous wildlife scientists and Hollywood celebrities than from man-made global warming.
He and his family live in a parallel, comfortable and modern world that humans cannot see and know nothing about.
When he learns the U.S. Senate plans to add polar bears to the Endangered Species List he blows his top because he knows that it will mean tight government control over every part of their perfectly safe and happy lives.
He decides he must travel to Washington on an iceberg and appear as an expert witness at the Senate’s Endangered Species hearings. He takes his daughter and grandson with him on his dangerous voyage and tells the politicians that polar bears only want the same freedoms all citizens have -- and to be left alone.
The massive media coverage of Grandpa’s stirring “Declaration of Polar Bear Independence” in the Senate (not to mention his ability to talk) shocks the world.
I’ve actually written several real books — 100% nonfiction ones.
30 Days a Black Man retells the true story of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette star reporter Ray Sprigle's undercover mission through the Jim Crow South in 1948. Sprigle's original series is in Undercover in the Land of Jim Crow. In 2013 I wrote Dogging Steinbeck, which exposed the truth about the fictions and fibs in Travels With Charley and celebrated Flyover America and its people.
